You can apply to IU as one of three types of students—freshman, transfer, or graduate.

Choose your path

  • Freshman students

    Apply as a freshman if you have never attended college or university before. You must earn a diploma from an accredited high school before you enroll at IU. Freshman applicants have two applications to choose from—you only need to submit one.

  • Transfer students

    Apply as a transfer student if you are currently attending, or have previously attended, a college or university—either in the United States or another country.

  • Graduate students

    Apply as a graduate student if you have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (or will have by the time you enroll at IU)—either in the United States or in your home country.
