Support for your career path

At IU Bloomington, you have a network of people ready to help you explore options, build skills, and move toward the future you want. From school‑based career centers and mentors to faculty, alumni, and specialized support programs, you’ll find guidance that fits your goals.

You don’t have to plan your future alone

Career development at IU is intentionally decentralized: every school has its own career center. In addition, Career Exploration & Student Employment (CESE) serves as a central campus resource for students exploring majors, reconsidering their academic path, or seeking part-time student employment. CESE also provides career exploration support for pre-business and pre-nursing students, exploratory majors, and students interested in opportunities beyond their current school.

This structure ensures you have access to support from people who understand your academic area, your industry, and the opportunities available to you.

Whether you’re choosing a major, preparing for internships, or thinking about graduate school, IU offers multiple ways to get personalized guidance.

Start with the resource that feels right for you: Your career path doesn’t have to be linear—and it doesn’t have to be something you figure out on your own. IU gives you a network of people who want to help you succeed. Choose the resource that fits where you are today, and build from there.

Career support for every student

IU is one of the few universities that provides a dedicated career center for each school, as well as a central career services office through CESE. These teams specialize in the fields you’re studying and the employers who hire in those areas.

Career centers can help you:

  • Explore career paths that match your strengths

  • Build resumes, cover letters, and portfolios

  • Practice interviewing and networking

  • Connect with internships and job opportunities

  • Prepare for graduate or professional programs
