Please join me in congratulating Paul Wright, Professor and Director of Communication Science in The Media School, on his election this August to the American Psychological Association Fellows.
Professor Wright, who is also an elected fellow of the International Communication Association for his distinguished contributions to the broad field of communication, studies the psychology of media use and effects, with a particular focus on socialization processes and impacts on public health. In addition to his election as an American Psychological Association fellow, he also recently received the Distinguished Lifetime Contributions to Media Psychology and Technology Award from the organization.
Edward Donnerstein, Dean Emeritus of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at University of Arizona and an advisor to Wright during his doctoral studies, said of his election in a recent press release, “To achieve the depth and scope of influence necessary to be named a fellow of another field—especially psychology, the oldest social and behavioral science—is truly an extraordinary accomplishment.”
