Your orientation steps

Your Hoosier experience starts here

Congratulations on earning admission to Indiana University Bloomington! Your New Student Orientation experience will provide you with opportunities to meet other Hoosiers, work with an academic advisor to register for classes, and feel excited and prepared to start your journey as an IU student.

Your New Student Orientation journey

New Student Orientation is required of all new IU undergraduate students. Managed by the Office of Orientation & Enrollment Services, orientation prepares new students and their supporters for the transition to college and to Indiana University. The program provides meaningful information, connections, and activities to help students feel more comfortable, confident, and ready to start their first year as a Hoosier.

During New Student Orientation, students register for their first semester of class. Students will also have an opportunity to learn about resources, opportunities, traditions, student life, and connect with other students and staff.

Fees

The IU New Student Fee, set by the Indiana University Finance Office, supports many initiatives for first-year Hoosiers, including New Student Orientation. This fee will be on your first IU tuition bill after completing New Student Orientation. While you do not need to pay it up front, you are responsible for the fee once you make your orientation reservation.
